Character Interview with Samantha Cambridge of The Glass House Mystery series.
We have another great character interview this week. We have several more interviews, each posting on a Wednesday morning. If you’re loving these, give the authors and me a shout out, and don’t be shy about sharing the link to the post on your social media. Authors live by word of mouth, so it would be great if you let other people know how much fun you had reading these interviews.
Book Series Title: Glass House Mystery Series
Book Title: Murder at a Discount by Carlie Lemont
Character Name: Samantha Cambridge; Occupation: Glass Artist
Where does she live? Mesa, Arizona
If you weren’t in your current career, what would you be doing?
The answer to this is one of two things. One, I’d be stuck in a soul-crushing corporate accounting job or something equally as dull. I’d be wearing appropriate knee length skirts and sensible shoes—basically, I’d be miserable. But, it’s what I went to school to do. Getting my MBA was quite the accomplishment and my parents were so proud, but imagine their surprise when I ran out on my first interview and started my own glass-art business. The other option would be to live with my parents in Iowa and sling slop for hogs and chase chickens around on their farm. No, thank you.
What is the trait you most deplore in others?
Do I have to choose just one? Okay, let me think about this for a moment. I would have to say cruelty. I deplore cruelty to animals and people alike. Can’t we all just get along?
What is your most treasured possession?
Oh, that’s an easy one! My beloved Irish Wolfhound, Freeway. From the moment that great big, fur-covered, kiss-machine came into my life…he’s been my crowning achievement. Now, I didn’t come by him easily, mind you. I had to stop on the busiest freeway in the city and wrangle the pup into my car while vehicles zoomed past at eighty miles an hour. I saw more flipped-birds that day than in my entire life. But, it was all worth it.
Left or right handed?
Well, that depends. I write with my right hand, but recently backhanded one of the bad guys with my left. Felt, good. Felt, right. So, I guess it depends on what I’m doing at the moment.
What do you value most in your friends?
My friends are crazy! They work right next to me at the Swap Meet—I’m basically a Sammy-sandwich. They don’t particularly like each other and I seem to be the glue that keeps them together. While they are nearly polar opposites of one another, they are both loyal and have my back no matter what I get myself into. Sure, Heidi might whine, worry, and stress herself out. While Carol becomes unpredictable and surprises us all with her stock-piles of weaponry and vast knowledge of the criminal world. Come to think of it, do you all think I should be worried or relieved? Anyway, they’ve never failed to be anything, but themselves and I love them for it.
